Paul Weyrich’s Doctrines

Americans and the main-stream media have been very slow in catching on to the fact that we are in a war—a war that is cultural, religious and political. closeted manual that reveals how the right wing in American politics can get and keep power. It was created under the tutelage of Paul W. Weyrich, the man who founded the Free Congress Foundation. Conservative leaders consider Weyrich to be the “most powerful man in American politics today.” These are a collection of his articles, some of which had been saved from TheocracyWatch.org which has apparently been taken down.

A Moral Minority? An open letter to conservatives

February 16, 1999 World Magazine

The document is a letter addressing conservatives about the perceived cultural collapse in America and advocating for a strategy of separation from institutions influenced by Political Correctness.

Creating a New Society

May 15, 1999 World Magazine

The document is a response to conservative’s criticism that the open letter was perceived by some as Weyrich’s suggesting they give up the fight. He clarifies by discussing the need for cultural conservatives to build their own institutions based on Christian values rather than solely relying on political engagement to combat moral decay in society.

The Integration of Theory and Practice: A Program for the New Traditionalist Movement

This is referred to as “Paul Weyrich’s Training Manual”: a strategic plan published in essay form in 2001 by the Free Congress Foundation written by Eric Heubeck guided by Paul Weyrich which calls for the use of deception, misinformation and divisiveness to allow conservative evangelical Christian Republicans to gain and keep control of seats of power in the government of the United States. This document prescribes the swift advancement of a planned coup.

Note: “The Integration of Theory and Practice” was taken down from the Free Congress Foundation’s website and those of other Christian groups after critics began linking the strategy it detailed to Dominionism and specific policies of the religious right.

Project 2025

Paul Weyrich had also co-founded The Heritage Foundation, another conservative think which had began documenting their policy prescription for decentralizing the government in a series of publications known as “Mandates for Leadership”:

  • 1981: Mandate for Leadership: Policy Management in a Conservative Administration
  • 1984: Mandate for Leadership II: Conservative Boogaloo Continuing the Conservative Revolution.
  • 1988: Mandate for Leadership III: Policy Strategies for the 1990s.
  • 1996: Mandate for Leadership IV: Turning Ideas into Action
  • 2000: Mandate for Leadership 2000
  • 2005: Mandate for Leadership: Principles to Limit Government, Expand Freedom, and Strengthen America
  • 2016: Mandate for Leadership: Blueprint for Reform
  • 2020: Mandate 2020: Clear Vision for the Next Administration
  • 2024: Mandate for Leadership 2025: The Conservative Promise

The current President of the Heritage Foundation, Kevin Roberts, finished this series under the code name, Project 2025, a 180-day action plan for reforming the government.
